I LOVE chapstick…and I don’t use that word lightly! Like I constantly want chapstick on my lips….can anyone relate?
But at the same time, have you ever looked at the ingredients list on one little tube of chapstick?!?!?! I have to say, it’s quite alarming. So many ingridents that aren’t needed…..by the consumer at least. I don’t know about you, but I am pretty concerned about what goes on my skin and when its on the skin right by my mouth I am even more concerned.
Hence my desire to make my own chapstick that literally takes 4 ingredients and about ummmm 20 mintues to make (if you count the hardening time). I can’t even drive to my nearest beauty supply store in that kind of time!
This recipe made 16 tubes of chapstick so adjust accordingly. It makes the perfect gift for just about anyone! I mean who doesn’t love soft lips…if you say you don’t YOU’RE LYING!
So here we go…you’re lips are going to feel as soft as a babies bottom.
Ingredients:
-
-
-
-
35 drops Young Living Peppermint Oil (or any other brand if you must)
Directions:
-
Line up all your chapstick tubes and gather your ingredients.
-
Melt the beeswax pellets, shea butter and coconut oil in a double boiler, stirring constantly. (I used a small saucepan with a pyrex for easing pouring).
-
Remove from heat but keep it in the hot water (it melts FAST!) Add the essential oil (I do 35 but it all depends on how much peppermint you want!).
-
Quickly pour into the tubes…and that’s it! Say hello to kissable, healthy, all-natural lips!
You really could use any essential oil combination when making this chapstick….peppermint-lavender might be next on my list. I may also put it in a tin next time to make it a balm!
….and if you live close to me, be warned you will be receiving a tube if chapstick the next time I see you. 16 tubes is quite a lot. Even for the girl who LOVES chapstick!
